Makeup Organization Ideas

How does makeup start completely taking over our bathroom? When you don’t have the storage and organization that you need!

Take stock of all your makeup and makeup brushes.

Toss out any that have expired, are broken or you don’t use anymore.

Give your brushes and makeup containers a good wipe down.

Then organize!

Drawers are the best way to keep makeup and your brushes dust free and clean. organize your drawers with plastic storage cups, baskets and trays that can be easily cleaned when they get filled with loose makeup.

Use a different container for eyeshadows, blush, lipstick, and nail polish so that they are easy to grab and go.

Storing  makeup brushes bristle side up in a glass protects them from damage.

Now that your makeup and beauty supplies are organized your makeup routine will also be quicker too!

Organization for Hair appliances

There are lots of ways to organize your hair dryer and curling irons.

I love this one that mounts on the back of your vanity cabinet door or on the wall!

This amazing style station will hang off a towel bar or will sit inside the cabinet

Organize Towels in Baskets

Folding or rolling bath towels and storing them in baskets makes them easily accessible to grab at bath time!

It also lets you easily see when you are running low on fresh towels and it’s time to do a load of laundry.

Having towels shoved in cabinets and in drawers makes your bathroom look and feel like a mess.

Get a few decorative plastic or seagrass baskets and place them on open shelving or in your bathroom cabinets. (measure your shelves and the size of your cabinet to make sure your baskets will fit!)

Baskets add style and texture in a bathroom so they not only organize but also decorate your bathroom!

Purge your towels and turn old towels into cleaning cloths or donate them to a veterinarian clinic!

Organize with Jars

Organize makeup pads, hair elastics, hair clips, cotton balls and cotton swabs with jars.

Use new or vintage jars, clear glass, apothecary jars or plastic jars to coordinate with your bathroom color palette.

Keeping a collection of storage jars ion a decorative tray is a great way to display and corral items.

Use Decorative Trays and Bowls

Trays and bowls are so multifunctional! They will add loads of style, texture and organize your perfume, soaps, sponges and hand towels!

Think outside of the box and use a large decorative clamshell as a bowl for towels and sponges. Roll hand towels up and organize them on a tray.

Organize Shelves with Baskets

If you are lucky enough to have built in shelves in your bathroom or floating shelves, prevent them from looking messy by adding baskets.

Lidded and open top baskets will keep countertops tidy and uncluttered by organizing linens and hair care items.

Lidded bathroom baskets are a great way to store hair appliance warranties too.

Have a basket for each person in your family or organize the baskets by item type.

You can also add tags to each basket to identify them!

Bathroom Color Palette

Take a look at your bathroom color palette to see if it’s adding to the cluttered look.

To help minimize the feel of clutter and messiness pick a wall paint color that is soothing and relaxing.

How to Pick Paint Colors With Confidence!

Choose baskets, boxes and shelves in colors that flow and coordinate, not clash, with each other, the color of your bathroom fixtures and vanity color.

Understand Color Schemes To Become A Better Decorator

An all white bathroom never fails! To keep a white bathroom from looking boring make sure you add lots of texture and pattern.

Two whites that I’ve used many times and never fail (and are designer favorites too!) are Sherwin Williams Pure White and Simply White.

Or try to layer in a gorgeous pop of color like Blueprint Paint Color – Color Of The Year to your vanity or as an accent wall to add a soothing, coastal, beachy feel to your bathroom.
