How To Make A Gift Basket with Step-By-Step Instructions and Supply List
1. The Basket or Container
Choose the basket or container to hold the gifts. I highly recommend choosing a basket that is versatile and can be used later for storage and organization! The basket itself is a gift as well! Here are some container and basket ideas:
- fabric storage basket
- cotton rope basket
- cotton rope woven basket
- wicker storage basket
- wire basket
- round rattan tray
2. Basket Filler
Add shredded, crinkle cut basket filler to the bottom of the gift basket will make the gifts stand out, add style and to hold your gifts in place!
Another option is to place a soft pashmina scarf loosely in the bottom of the basket. It makes a beautiful gift too!
3. Cellophane Bag For Baskets
Place your basket filled with gifts into a clear cellophane bag for gift baskets. (This one is food safe too for food gifts!)
Select a size that’s large enough to cover the top of the gift hamper basket with room to gather and tie at the top.
Gather the bag at the top of the basket and secure.
Add a gift tag and ribbon.
4. Add A Gift Tag
A beautiful gift hamper basket accent is a gift tag embellished with the person’s name!
Tie the gift tag onto the basket with bakers twine or natural cotton twine.
5. Top With A Ribbon Bow
The final touch is to add a ribbon bow to the gift basket!
Make your own ribbon bows using:
- satin ribbon in any color under the rainbow
- neutral satin ribbon that go with everything
- burlap ribbon for a rustic refined touch

- burgundy velvet ribbon for the holidays
