How To Decorate Your Living Room For Summer
Even though we all spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer on our patio and pergola dining area, we still love spending time in our living room!
Wether it’s watching Netflix, or escaping the summer heat to relax in the coolness of our air conditioned living room, our living room gets used a lot during the summer time!
I love replacing my spring textiles, pillows ,throws and decorative objects with lighter ones in summery colors!
1. Pick a Fresh Summer Color Palette
The first place to start a living room refresh for summer is to choose a summer color palette for your space!
This year I chose ink blue and white (plus gold!).
I find these colors so fresh and relaxing for summer!
Blue always reminds me of the northern lake I grew up on and Virginia Beach where were lived near for several years!
We are water babies and we love the serene peaceful feeling of watery blues!
Of course you know how much I love white and gold, so I love to include those colors for summer too!
2. Turn Your TV Into Summer Art
If you don’t have a TV like Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ TV that displays art, you can still turn your TV into gorgeous summer artwork!
Select Youtube on your smart TV and select a tropical island 4K UHD Drone Video Screensaver like this stunning aerial Bermuda one!
You could also find one that features summer flowers!.
How gorgeous is that? Much prettier than looking at a black rectangle!! 🙂

3. Beautiful Vases and Ginger Jars
There’s nothing more summery and affordable than decorating with flowers!
Selecting pretty vases and ginger jars to display them allows you to repeat your favorite colors and add shape and texture to your living room.
I added these gorgeous white and gold color block ginger jars, that Lo Home sent to me, to my mantle and hearth area.
( Did you see them on my kitchen island and countertops in my summer kitchen home tour? )
They are hand painted, made in America decorative accents – with pure beauty and style!
Such an easy way to give your living room a summer refresh!
Don’t they look amazing on the hearth? Those are the large size.
I added two small and two medium sized ginger jars to each side of my mantel.
I layered in my favorite mercury glass and gold candlesticks and candles.
The bouquet in the middle is actually in a small white ceramic kitchen canister! They make the perfect vase for a small summer floral centerpiece.
I added these two faux Mongolian fur ottomans in front of my fireplace to add more texture and another pop of white.
They are so so soft and great for extra seating in a pinch when you have guests!
4. Easy Summer Decor: Flowers and Greenery
I live for summer flowers! I have lots of white roses and pink peony bushes in my backyard flower gardens but they haven’t bloomed yet so I used faux flowers here!
I added one bunch of white faux flowers to each ginger jar.
Adding greenery with branches or faux stems is an easy way to fill vases and ginger jars. I often head to our backyard to clip some hostas, euonymus and tree branches for quick and easy arrangements!
The Easiest Way To Divide Hostas & Transplanting Tips
5. Living Room Accent Pillows
I’m obsessed with using accent pillows as a quick refresh to a room!
I added these gorgeous greek key patterned velvet pillows, from Lo Home, to my sofa – in Ink Blue and Dune colors. The dune color is a soft gold color and have a subtle shimmer, like liquid gold!
They are breathtaking!
They remind of golden beach sand and the ink blue velvet pillows remind me of the sea.
If you saw my summer entryway, kitchen and breakfast nook summer home tour, you saw these Ink Blue velvet pillows on my foyer settee!
I also added a Dune velvet lumbar pillow to my sofa – these velvet pillows are so soft and the gold color is so gorgeous!
I typically add cotton and linen pillows for summer but these velvet pillows are perfect year round.
6. Summery Throw Blankets
Throw blankets are a must for cool summer nights! I love my throw blankets to have pom pom or tassels for a splash of detail and texture.
Decorate your living room with lots of textiles to add texture!
7. Coffee Table Tray Decor
Give your coffee table a quick update for summer with a vase of summer flowers, a candle and drink coaster.
One of my favorite candles is this Voluspa Suede Blanc scent! It smells so elegant and sophisticated!
8. Coffee Table Books
I have a couple of new coffee table books on order. I love adding them to my coffee table to read and to decorate the surface!
When choosing coffee table book, pick your favorite topic or something you’d like to learn more about – flowers, gardening, travel or interior design!
Stack them in two’s or three’s onto your coffee table as an quick and easy way to refresh your living room!
I love to grab one of my coffee books with a summer coconut banana smoothie or lemon lemon blueberry iced tea and sit on our deck to relax!
