Summer Kitchen Decor Ideas – The Inspiration:
I had so much fun decorating my kitchen for Summer! This winter has been the longest ever and this Spring has been so cold and wet!
We’ve finally gotten a bit of warm weather so I’ve tucked away my spring decor (see my Light and Bright Spring Kitchen Decor Ideas)
To add the feeling of summer, I’ve lightened things up in my kitchen and dining area with lighter textiles plus summery plants and flowers to bring the outdoors in.
I also created a fresh summer color palette for the kitchen which includes touches of my favorite color for summer…..BLUE!
See our recent dark to white kitchen remodel- before and after -it’s such a HUGE transformation! Bye-bye orange toned wood cabinets!
1. A Summer Centerpiece For The Kitchen Island:
I love to decorate my new gorgeous Statuario Neuvo quartz countertop on my kitchen island with a seasonal tray centerpiece.
Using trays is one of my go to ways to style a room, because they can easily be moved and are so fun to decorate!
This gold and marble tray is a beauty and really ties in our beautiful gold and crystal pendants and chandelier.
I added this stylish blue and white ginger jar and filled it with white peonies. (see my DIY white peony wreath that I hung on our front door for summer! I made it in under 30 minutes!)
Using the design rule of threes I also added my favorite Voluspa Suede Blanc coconut wax candle (such a fresh, timeless scent of buttery suede and cedar!) and a natural wood bead garland for a touch of summery texture!
Boom! Kitchen island centerpiece done!

2. Add Summery Tea Towels:
I’m slightly obsessed with tea towels! Especially ones with a fringe or tassel! I found these gorgeous blue and white striped tea towels at Home Goods and hung two on my dishwasher and one on my range.
These blues really tie in with my new blue, gray and ivory kitchen rug!
3. Summery Flowers In A Beautiful Vase:
I usually like to buy fresh blue hydrangeas for summer but I couldn’t find any – even after looking in 5 stores!
So I added a pop of summery blue to the kitchen with these gorgeous faux blue hydrangeas I had on hand!
This white ceramic vase is seriously gorgeous – it’s actually a lidded jar so it’s really versatile! I love functional decor that is multipurpose, don’t you?!!
my new white coffee maker that I’m in LOVE with!
4. Pineapple Canisters for Kitchen Countertop Storage:
Nothing says ‘summer’ like pineapples! I’m obsessed with white ceramic pineapples (you can see more of them on my dining room tablescape here) and I also love to add them to my mantel for summer.
I use my lidded pineapple canisters for storing sugar, tea bags, Keurig pods, cookies…..there are so many ways to use them. They’re also great for storing kitchen sponges and dishwasher detergent tabs.
5. Kitchen Sink Decor for Summer:
I’m very lucky that I have this big window at my sink to look out at when I’m prepping meals.
We are surrounded by big cedar trees, pine and birch trees so it gets really green and leafy during the summer!
I love to have a pretty soap and lotion set on hand and I love to change up the scent for the seasons!
Right now I’m using this gorgeous Lemongrass and Ginger Essential Oil soap and lotion set – it has such a beautiful fresh summer lemony-herb scent!
I also decorated my window sill with these white bud vases filled with string of pearls succulents and grass sprigs.
Once my flower gardens begin to bloom I’ll fill the vases up with roses and peonies!
How To Grow A Cut Flower Garden
I also LOVE to have a vase of flowers by the sink – this is a vase I found at the thrift store! I filled it with pretty summery cosmo flowers.
6. Accent pillows for a Fast Summer Decor Idea:
These stunning macrame fringed pillows are a gorgeous way to style a room for summer! They are indoor – outdoor pillows, I bought 2 for our outdoor deck chairs too!
They are so stylish – the lumbar shape is one of my favorites!
I think they look so chic with our tufted dining chairs! These chairs are on major sale!! 46% off and FREE shipping! Just $111.15 each!
7. Summer Table Setting:
The color palette –
I usually pick a different color palette for my tablescapes each season….blue and white is one of my favorite color palettes! It’s fresh and perfect for summer.
I paired navy napkins and chambray blue placemats at each table end place setting with some blue hydrangeas in blue chinoiserie bowls and mixed in my beautiful white dinnerware pattern.
Napkins
I also mixed in my favorite gray striped napkins, they really tie in with our gray wood trestle table! I love the gorgeous striped border on them, they are stunning!
8. Summer Kitchen Decor Idea – Palm Trees for a Summer Tropical Vibe:
These faux palm trees are a fun way to dress up a room for summer! Adding greenery with trees and plants is one of my must haves for a beautifully designed room!
For some reason I can’t keep real palm trees alive indoors – but I do have a lot of them outdoors on our deck and patio in planters.
I put the palm trees in these chic tasseled baskets from Drew Barrymoore’s new design line!
These hand woven baskets are so yummy! They have lots of gorgeous fringe and texture…and the natural color goes with everything! They are perfect for summer and can be used to store kids toys, books, throw blankets and magazines.
Lately I’ve been drawn to this boho design, I think it’s so right for summer, it’s so on trend right now and I love mixing it with my transitional design style.
When I’m mixing design styles I keep the colors muted and neutral to make them work with the modern transitional design style in my home!
Here you can see the pop of green these faux palm trees add to my open concept kitchen and dining area!
