Home Office Makeover – Before and After
See the before and after of my home office makeover! New paint, new room layout, new decor and new furniture!
I gave my office a makeover!!! And let me tell you, it really really needed one!! I’m so excited to show you the before and after pictures, so let’s get to it!

Before:
So let’s start with some before shots…when you see these before pics, please be gentle with me!! We’ve been focusing on painting, decorating and renovating many rooms in our home since we moved in a few years ago….and we just didn’t have time to get to the office….until now! I admit that my office was chaotic, unorganized, a mish mash of furniture pieces that didn’t match in any way and had a hideous gloomy green wall color.
Pretty sad right? The previous owners had chosen this particular wall color….. and even though I love green (you’ve all seen the emerald green decor I’ve been loving lately!) this green paint color is drab, muddy, depressing and had to go!
….and we have a window on one of the interior office walls!!! WHAATT?? What a strange thing to add in my mind, and we are planning on getting rid of it ASAP!
As you can see my office furniture was a real mish mash of styles.
Also, things got super crazy busy with life, summer holidays and blogging recently…and my office just became a dumping ground for boxes, camera equipment and more unmatched furniture!
Here are my plantation shutters….in a maroon-burgundy color…..!!!! ?????

Okay – now that we’ve seen the nasty ‘before’, let’s have a look at the pretty ‘after’!
After
Ahhhh!! Sooo much better!
We painted the office walls BM Simply White OC-117 – which happens to be BM’s color of the year 2016!
This was announced after we picked this color!! Yess!! WE NAILED IT! 😉 It’s “transcendent, powerful, and polarizing,” according to color experts.
This color is the perfect white!!! It’s a bit creamier than a pure white is, and it’s not cold or stark.
It’s a warm white and I think it would pair with just about any other color.

We added some new office furniture including a console table and two bookcases:
I also created a new room layout with the bookcases and console along the back wall and my desk floating in the middle of the room – I love this layout!
The console table holds my printer, music speakers….I also leaned some of my art and my framed degree in Honors Microbiology. (It seems like a million years ago when I stepped off that campus as a new graduate! Where has the time flown? Whew!)

There is still more to do here….I still have art to hang on the walls and I’m thinking of removing the plantation shutters and hanging drapes for some pattern and color….or having the shutters spray painted white….don’t worry though, I’ll share with you the updates!

A vast improvement!!! Love the new furnishings and floating the desk is always a great idea. Much better than your back to the room. As for the white walls, I am just not a fan of white walls:( I just need a hint of color. But if it works for you, great!!!
You now have the perfect space to let your creative side flourish. Love all the white – the perfect backdrop for your art.

Hi Lynn – yes this desk is great and I love the two drawers too – very roomy to store office supplies! The back of the desk has a part that lifts up so you can store all your computer cables in it!
