I absolutely love coastal style! Especially in the summer! I love to add beach inspired touches to give our home a more unfussy, relaxed vibe to make me feel like I’m at the beach even though I’m far from it…. and I truly love all shades of blue!
Here are 5 ways to add coastal style to your home. Use this 5 step design recipe to transform your home into a coastal retreat!
1. Watery Palette
Paint a room with a color straight from the ocean! Think colors of sand, sky, sea and sun! Add a few decor accents in these colors to your mantel, coffee table or bookcase. Adding a watery colored rug will instantly give your room coastal vibes. Use bedding in watery colors.
2. Woven Accents
Add woven decor and furniture to a room to give it a relaxed and natual feeling. Think woven rope and twine. Some woven accent ideas are macrame hanging plant holders and wall art, woven chairs and baskets.

3. Natural Materials
Using natural materials such as sisal, shell, wood, driftwood and rattan all have a coastal vibe. Sisal rugs, baskets, driftwood mirrors, jute glass lanterns, wood bead chandeliers and capiz shell lighting, wood side tables and trays are great ways to incorporate natural materials.
4. Plant life
Tropical trees and plants go hand and hand with coastal design! Add palm trees, yucca plants, bird of paradise plants and succulents to any room to create a coastal feeling!
5. Beach Inspired Decor
Using items like coral, shells, sea glass and sea life like starfish and sea urchin shells will instantly transport you to the shore! Use them as vase and bowl fillers, on top of a stack of books or in a tray. And hang ocean inspired art to your walls.
