Today I am sharing with you the foyer of my home. Come on in!
Large blue glass vase - TJ Maxx
Manzanitta branches - Pier One
Photo Art: All of these photos are images found on paint chip pamphlets from Home Depot. I just cut them out and framed them in a black frame from Michaels. Easy and inexpensive DIY art!
Hand woven rug: from Afghanistan. My handsome husband has been deployed there twice and has purchased three of these. They are just so gorgeous. These pictures really don't do this rug justice. I love the deep rich reds, blacks and taupes in this rug. I can't believe that this was made by hand! The fringes on the end are all hand-knotted. What incredible workmanship!
African masks: from Djibouti, Africa; my husband was deployed there last year. If you look at the tops of the masks you can see zebra on one and giraffes on the other! The colours are deep reds, browns and blacks. The colours really compliment the Afghan rug.
My thoughtful husband often returns from his frequent travels with something for our home. It's a great way to personalize our space with unique decor and handmade items. It's also his sweet way of bringing these countries home for us to share, to connect us as a family upon his return from his frequent absences and share his experiences with us. I think it gives our home 'soul'.
Have you ever returned home from your travels with something to decorate your space?
Thanks for coming by for a visit! I'd love to hear your comments! And please, become a FOLLOWER!

Heather

Love the space! And my youngest son has a rock collection from our travels. LOL Don't ask me why. Oh yeah he collects knives too. I'm not really a collector and the most I bring back are a ton of pictures. But I think it is neat your husband brings back a little culture from his travels.
