Back in the day, before kiddos, hubby and I used to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a night out at an expensive restaurant.
But after we had kids it got to be so expensive to pay a sitter and buy overpriced Valentine’s Day meals and drinks!
While it’s still nice to go out once and a while, now we really love to spend time relaxing in our own home and making an indoor picnic by the fire, to cuddle up to after a great home made dinner. See the dinner menu below.
It’s a great chance to just catch up with each other, talk about our dreams, our plans and spend some time enjoying and appreciating each other’s company by a cozy fire.
We love to watch movies too – so check out the list of 12 romantic movies I put together to give you some ideas of what you can watch on Valentine’s Day date night!
Date Night – Indoor Picnic Idea
For our indoor picnic I laid down a cozy fringed pink blanket by our fireplace to sit on – it’s super soft!
Next I tossed a few throw pillows on top of the blanket…. to lean on.

– fruit (red fruit like strawberries, raspberries and red grapes are perfect for Valentine’s Day)
– chocolate candy (this is my favorite chocolate!)
– Valentine chocolate bark recipe
– Pink champagne or pink perrier water!
– A scented candle is also a nice touch. These Voluspa candles are a favorite of mine!
