A pair of white skates. You can buy them –>> here!
Greenery to fill the skates – such as cedar, pine, boxwood.
Holiday picks and jingle bells
How to make an Ice Skate Wreath:
I tied the skate laces together in a bow a few inches up from the top of the skates and hung it on the hook on our gate. Then I hung the wreath so that the skates are lying on the bottom of the wreath.
Next I filled the skates with cedar boughs and boxwood from my yard (or use whatever greenery you’d like!)
Then I topped the wreath off with a green bow and tucked in cedar, boxwood, some jingle bells and a green berry pick into the skates for a little touch of sparkle.
This took literally minutes to put together and only cost $4 for the skates!
I love the simple ‘old school’ vintage look of this wreath and wintery vibe.
It reminds me of the days I spent as a kid skating on an outdoor pond by our home, and reminds me of all of the fun times we’ve spent skating with our boys at the skating rink!
I hope you like my DIY Ice Skate Wreath Decor project!

The ice skate wreath is a really cute idea, and so easy and inexpensive.
Thanks for all your inspiration.
I like this because it is great for the entire winter and not just Christmas.
Wow! Wish I had a pair of ice skates!
The wreath is adorable, what a great idea!
Thank you Lory! xo Heather
Heather, I love this idea. This wreath can be used all winter long. I like the simplicity of the skates, one big bow, some greens! Not overdone but interesting. Have you ever see a pair of skates found in a craft department? Any ideas as how to fins vintage skates?
Thanks Nancy Elizabeth
Hi Nancy! I’m so glad you love my wreath! There’s a link in the post where you can buy these skates! Here it is!! Have fun making this wreath! http://amzn.to/2fVqD9e
Love it! I haven’t started decorating yet! But I love how simple you make it look and yet so Beautiful!
My grand daughter ice skates at the Charleston Ice Palace. She wants this for the front door. We start decorating on Thanksgiving, and the front door decoration is the first thing we put up.
Oh fabulous Audrey!! She sounds like a fabulous ice skater!! I’m glad you like my wreath idea! Happy Holidays – xo Heather
I still have my skates from my childhood. What a great idea to do with them!
Now I am going to have to find my baby skates! I’ve always wanted to do this. I have a pair of white skates with white fur around the ankles, and they have cute buckles on the side from a strap that goes over the top of the foot; over the laces. They would be perfect for this!
Oh.my.gosh – they do sound absolutely perfect for this wreath Tracy!! Have fun making this wreath and happy holidays! xo Heather
Love this idea! Looks great!
Wow, Heather. You truly do have an eye for décor. I’m a Heather wanna be… and fan. I love the ice skates wreath. I’m going to have to see if I can find some at my thrift store.
Your ice skating boot wreath is just fun. .
This wreath is simple and fresh! And can be left up all winter. I like decor that can be left up well passed the Christmas season since usually when Christmas decor comes down the house looks empty and boring, and Valentine’s Day is 2 months away!
I love your ice skating wreath! I’ve just saw skates hung on a door on BHG but I like yours so much better. What is the greenery hanging down over the skates, that is so pretty and the other tulip type thing sticking out? It’s just perfect, and the way you did the bow, it is so elegant, how did you do a bow like that?
Thanks so much Lynn for the compliments!! The greenery I put in the skates is some real cedar branches and boxwood. The green glittered tulip decor is a decorative holiday ornament I bought at a local store. I’ll have to do a tutorial on the bow! It’s looped then wired into a bow shape. Then I tucked the tails into the wreath. Hope that helps!
I FINALLY found a pair of white ice skates in excellent shape (she had a pair of black ones too and I’m regretting not buying them already). Anyway I’m now working on my ice skate wreath and I’m so excited! I’m thinking about using one on the wreath and one on my kids wooden sled. They’re grown and have a different type of sled now. Thank you for your inspiration! I just wish I’d bought the black pair as well!
