Today, I am giving you a tour of my teenage son's bedroom....warning, if you don't like black you will not enjoy this post! :)

K is 18....being a teenager and a boy, of course he loves BLACK! (what else??). He also has always had an interest in the military (my Hubs is active duty Infantry) and World War II...so when we redecorated his bedroom when he was 15, he wanted his bedroom to have lots of military pictures and accessories.....Hooah!
I love this bed from Haverty's. It's a slat bed, which means that there are many wooden slats running along the width of the bed. So instead of having to purchase both a mattress and box spring, all that is required is a cheaper mattress/bunkie board set! The bunkie board (a large wooden board wrapped in fabric) gives a bit more support and stability for the mattress. The other thing that sold us on this bed is that it has 2 drawers at the end of it (you can't have enough storage in a teen's room!). Each drawer has two beautiful brushed nickel knobs. I love the dark merlot stained cherry veneer, the panel headboard and turned feet too. It's a masculine bed, great for a teen boy and will be perfect for him to take later to his first apartment or home. Also, it's a very solid bed which I believe will last a long time.
Afghanistan Shemaghs (head scarf worn for wind and sun protection in desert conditions) - My husband brought several of these back from his deployments to Afghanistan. I just hung them on 3M Command Hooks.
Several framed postcards of the Canadian military presence in Afghanistan (from my hubby's deployments there).
Framed print of D-Day (my son has always had an interest in World War II)- Ebay
Green Day Poster!
Framed poster of Mi-24 HIND Military helicopter (purchased at Zazzle).
So that's the tour!

OK, there's one glaring elephant in the room that needs to be addressed here: How in the world is that teenage boy room so super tidy? Really. That's a huge achievement in itself! You did a great job in there!
ReplyDeleteDid you tidy before you took this picture? It is the cleanest COOLEST boy's room I've ever seen. I love all the thought that went into the decor. It's so interesting. No wonder you have such thoughtful boys. It obviously was a room that inspired greatness :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a tastefully decorated boy's room - you've definitely got a good one!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part, which you didn't even mention, is the fan that looks like an airplane propeller :) Perfect fit with all the other decor.
Excellent job. It's very pulled together! Thanks for linking up at SaltTree's Open Call Tuesdays.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Lucky boy to have such a large room. My son is in a glorified closet!
ReplyDeleteVery Cool! My son would LOVE this! Thanks for the inspiration and sharing his space with us. So tickled to have found you. New follower :)

Oh wow, your son must just love that fabulous room! I love that it really represents his own personal style!
ReplyDeleteNeat room! Looks pretty good for a teen boy's room to me!
ReplyDeletelove it...and yes I have a teenage son that loves black too!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks really good, kuddos to you. My kids wanted black bedroms too when they were teens. The youngest also wanted a nite time sky after a thunderstorm painted on his ceiling. We did it, looked pretty nice with clouds rolling away and stars peeking through.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great room for a teen boy...my son would be very envious of this room for sure. The war memorabilia looks great!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Natasha in Oz
My son absolutely loved this. Do you know the name and brand of paint that used? thanks!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your son loves it Wendy! Sorry I don't know the color or brand of paint on the walls, we are renting and didn't paint it. Its a creamy white color. Have a great day :)
