 1. Purple Coneflower- This beautiful perennial is perfect for flower beds that have full sun exposure. This flower is very durable – it’s drought and heat resistant. Great if you live where there are water useage limits in the summer.

3. Aster: These come in many colors but I love purple the best! They are heavy flower producers and create a gorgeous mass of blooms all fall! They even grow wild here! Their blooms supply nectar to hungry butterflies in the fall as they prepare for their big migration to the south.

I can’t wait for our garden to start blooming again. One of my favorites are the purple coneflowers. And I’m a host addict 😉

Oh me too Julia! We’ve had such a long winter and it’s snowing again today! I have lots of purple coneflowers too and hostas are one of my favorites as well – they are both great low maintenance plants!

Thanks for the tips, Heather! I planted a sunny flower garden (complete with mammoth sunflowers) on the southern side of my home, and I’d love to plant some flowers that attract butterflies. My kids would love watching the butterflies! Thanks again.

I love all of these flowers! We had wild purple aster last year and the bees and butterflies loved it! I am hoping my purple bee balm flowers this year since they loved that when I had it before! You have me excited for flowers!
