The top 3 purple flowering plants for a butterfly garden – I love to grow plants in our flower beds, baskets and containers that attract butterflies!
One of the things I love the best about summer is our flower gardens and watching all of the birds and butterflies that visit!
I love to grow plants in our flower beds, baskets and containers that attract butterflies. One of my favorite flower colors to add to my yard and containers is purple. I’m planning to add more this coming summer; these are my top 3 purple flowering plants to attract butterflies!
The top 3 purple plants for a butterfly garden:
1. Purple Coneflower- This beautiful perennial is perfect for flower beds that have full sun exposure. This flower is very durable – it’s drought and heat resistant. Great if you live where there are water useage limits in the summer.
2. Verbena. This is a perfect trailing plant to add to your urns, containers and hanging baskets. It will steadily bloom all summer.
3. Aster: These come in many colors but I love purple the best! They are heavy flower producers and create a gorgeous mass of blooms all fall! They even grow wild here! Their blooms supply nectar to hungry butterflies in the fall as they prepare for their big migration to the south.
Aren’t these flowers and butterflies gorgeous? I can’t wait for summer!
I hope you enjoyed this post on the top 3 purple plants for a butterfly garden!
