I grew up on the shores of a northern lake and while I didn’t grow up in a cottage I’ve always loved Lake House Cottage Decor!
Hammocks on a porch, Adirondack chairs on a dock, white washed walls and textiles in beachy blues and sandy beiges…these all for me represent summer living at it’s best!
This summer I’ve created a Lake House Cottage Decor Pinterest board where I pin all of the dreamy beach side rooms I’d love to decorate and live in!
Here is a collection of some of the Lake House Cottage Decor Ideas that make me feel like I’m back on the beach of that northern lake listening to the waves lapping on the shore!
A Hammock on the Porch is the perfect spot to read a book or take a nap by the lake. Piled high with watery blue and sandy beige pillows and a throw this spot looks so comfy and peaceful!
This Lake House is so picturesque! The white planked walls and white floors ground the eclectic furniture pieces. The fun chandelier looks like kelp or coral! I love the big open doorway that opens to the sitting area and lakeside dock!!
Thom Filicia is one of my favorite Designers – here is his upstate New York lake house. Isn’t it stunning? I love the fabric used for the drapes and headboard – notice it’s the same pattern but he cleverly used the stripe pattern vertically on the drapes and horizontally on the headboard! This is a smart way to use one fabric to achieve interest in a room!
This Nature Inspired Guest House (I’d love to sleepover here – how about you?) combines a living room area beside the triple deck built-in bunk beds! I’ve always loved bunk beds – these look so cozy! The slip covered pinstripe chairs create a fun sitting area perfect for chatting with friends and family:
What a pretty gallery wall in this New Hampshire Lake House! A moose head, vintage fishing gear and licence plate paired with a vintage enamel clock create such a gorgeous collected look!
Do you have a home or cottage by the lake? Someday I hope to!

The only cottage we ever had by a lake was our travel trailer at the CO river north of Yuma, Az where we used to go with our kids and several of their friends. Noisy but fun. We had our trailer at the rv park so it was quiet there at least. Had so much fun there for few years til we moved to MT. Guess you could say or mgf. home there was our cottage also on Canyon Ferry Lake south of Helena, MT. I would so love to move back there again. We had 20 acres there, so beautiful there with so much space, the lake and mountains. Fun to dream about tho huh?
Loved all photos you shared of lake cottages. One really reminded me of cottage we went to every summer when I was a kid before we left Cleveland for Tucson. Cottage was in woods above the lake, our own pier, beach, many great memories of there. Was in Canada on Lake Superior. Happy weekend
