Make this easy DIY trivet potholder for your kitchen to protect your table from hot pots and casserole dishes! It has a beautiful vintage French graphic. See the tutorial and supply list to make it for your home and for gifts!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
This weekend I finished up this super useful and easy DIY French Label Trivet Hot Pad project. (Longest post title ever!)
I saw this beautiful Vintage French Cafe Printable at the Graphics Fairy and was inspired to make a large cork backed trivet to protect my table from the heat of large bowls and platters of hot food.
I only have small round trivets which I have to double or triple up for large platters…this large rectangular trivet will be a lot more practical!

Supplies:
cork backed placemat
primer spray paint
black Sharpie ultra fine point
pencil
black and white photocopy of these 2 printables:
Tutorial:
– Spray paint front of placemat. I used 2 coats. Let dry.
– On the reverse side of each photocopied printable, (the blank side), shade the area of the graphic with pencil. This will create a transfer of the graphic. You can see in this pic where I shaded the area where the words and lines are:
– Center French Cafe Printable printable on placemat so that the pencil shaded-in side is in contact with the top spray painted side of the placemat.
– With pencil trace the outlines of the graphic and lettering to transfer it onto placemat.
– After images are transfered fill in the graphics with the black Sharpie marker.
That’s it you are done!
Here it is with my Adams Pattern English Ironstone platter:
