DIY Art West Elm Inspired and a Pinterest Party with Me!

Exciting news!! I’m hosting a Pinterest Party at Michaels on Februray 16th, 2014!!

A Pinterest party is a creative craft and DIY party where you make a project featured on Pinterest!

As I mentioned on Instagram,  Michaels, Hometalk (a home & garden social network) and several selected Home and DIY bloggers are putting their DIY clout together and are offering Pinterest parties in Michaels stores across North America on February 16, 2014.

I was thrilled to find out I was selected as the featured Hometalk blogger for Ontario Canada to host the Michaels Pinterest party!! Pinch me!!  This is going to be so much fun!!!

There will be lots of different projects to make and I’ll be showing you how to make this DIY West Elm Inspired Abstract Art in person for a live demo!

As I mentioned on Instagram I visited my local Michaels store last week and bought these supplies:

Supplies:

DIY Canvas art made with 4 pack canvases

Supplies to make DIY Canvas Art

4 Pack of 6” x 6” Canvas Art

Black Craft Paint (Folk Art in ‘Licorice’)

Artists brush

Antique Gold Rub n buff

Easy DIY Canvas Art

First, load your paint brush with black paint and paint on lines in a swooping, random pattern. This is abstract art so just go with it and try not to be too precise!

Use your brush on both the widest and narrowest side to vary up the brush stroke widths. Lightly brush on a bit of the paint at the edges of your painted ‘stroke’ marks to give the art some dimension.

The last step is to add some Glam with gold rub n buff to the edges!

I love how all 4 art pieces turned out!

For now, I propped one up in a little vignette on my buffet table.

(My son made the black and white art in the background – adorable right?)
