Quick and Easy Kids Work Space Makeover – Organize and Decorate Before & After #WalmartFrugalHeroes

by heather 34 Comments

My son heads back to school in one week – time to get his work space ready for the organization and preparation he’ll need for the new school year!

Summer will officially be over and the start of homework and study time will begin!

My son starts Grade 9 this year so I know there will be lots of homework, class projects, essays and assignments…

so I made over his bedroom study space last week to create an organized and fun work space for him.

I wanted to keep a tight budget in mind for this makeover so I was so excited when I was contacted to participate in the Walmart Frugal Heroes challenge!  I’m thrilled to say that I met the challenge goal of creating a kid’s study space with a $100.00 spending limit!

We wanted his study space to coordinate with the navy, red and aqua blue colors he already has in his room, so I kept with that color palette when making my purchases.

His study space went from this:

‘Before’

….to this:

After!

All the items I purchased at Walmart include:

Architect Table Lamp  – $24.98.  My son wants to be an architect, so this lamp is perfect!. I love how it adjusts both at the arm and with the shade adjustment too!  The silver metal color is the perfect touch of industrial decor too!

Desk Storage Caddy Organizer – $9.98. The aqua blue color is a great color balance to the navy walls and red accent colors in his bedroom. Five compartments sized to fit pens/pencils and notepads will be a great way to organize his desk.

Magnetic Dry Erase Board – $15.97.  Great way to organize and keep track of his sports timings and assignment dates!

Reusable chill drink cup – $6.00.  My son loves to keep hydrated with water!  I love the graphic blue pattern on this cup which ties in to the colors we are using in his room.

Aqua blue Flokati Rug – $17.88. This modern faux fur rug feels so soft!  This trendy aqua colored rug is a fun way to add a splash of color, style and comfort to a room!

9 Inch wall clock – $5.00.  My son will easily be able to keep track of time with this masculine black and silver battery operated wall clock.

Total spent including taxes – $90.19

Yes  – I am a Walmart Frugal Hero!!  I met my personal savings goal of using a frugal $100.00 budget!Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge www.settingforfour

I shopped his room and added these other pieces:

Red ceramic owl

DIY Monogram Map and Washi Tape Pen Cup

I love his new work space and so does my son!  Now he’s ready for back to school – with a fun focus on organization and style!
