Here’s how this little blogging game goes:
I moved from Canada to Virginia two and a half years ago and tried unsuccessfully to re-enter the workforce here; this area currently has very high unemployment with many businesses and organizations closing. As well, I didn’t know a soul here and my husband travels 1-3 weeks for 10 months out of 12 every year. Yes, he is only home two months a year! It’s kind of crazy! So I needed an outlet to make friends, to learn something new and focus my creativity and analytical mind (my background is Product Development and Research and Development as a Microbiologist).
Blogging fulfills all of those things. I seem to learn something new just about every day and love the technical end of it as well. I have made many friends who have freely given me tips and advice on the ins and outs of blogging – its a wonderful community!
For most pageviews it has been My Space: The Foyer.
For most comments it has been my Ballard Design Inspired DIY Pillow.
Have fun and it will show! Your readers will embrace your blog if you show enthusiasm 🙂
Very early in the morning and late at night. And sometimes in between…really clear right 😉
Centsational Girl. I love the DIY’s she features and beautiful photos she takes. I mean, this smart lady’s latest project was to rip the bathroom vanity off of the wall, add furniture feet to it and repaint it to look like a free-standing Pottery Barn turned leg console!
I actually like mine 🙂 Still tweaking it here and there though…
Its Classic/Traditonal meets Global meets Modern, so I guess I would call it Eclectic. Eclectic Design involves a mix of period pieces and a mix of styles – a little contemporary mixed with antiques and a splash of global elements blended with traditional thrown into the mix. I buy what I love and I love many different styles. Somehow it all just works. The key is to edit. I believe furniture, art and decor need some space around them to breathe, to shine on their own while allowing them to compliment other things around them. It’s definitely not a matchy-matchy decor style!
70’s style uphostery…From the viewpoint of a Mom with two boys, I am just not loving the concept of top to bottom uphostery on the arms like this:
What is your next DIY project?
So far, my favorite has been my Pottery Barn Inspired Love Votive Candle Set.
I saw them in the PB catalogue and thought – I can make those! It was fun to figure out how to make them without any instructions. I love problem solving and designing from scratch in that way – again my Product Developement and R and D background helped me out! Then I wrote a tutorial for it and posted it on my blog. It was surprisingly easy and inexpensive. I love to have the look, without PB’s pricetag!
