Have you ever visited Niagara Falls? Niagara Falls is the name for 3 waterfalls (the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls) that lie within the Ontario Canada and New York USA border.
We visited ‘the Falls’ this summer when we drove from Chesapeake to Toronto to watch our son be inducted into the Army. We’ve visited Niagara Falls many times but it never fails to impress! Take a look to see why!
This white cloud that hovers over the Falls is caused by the mist in the air formed from the force of the water as it pounds the bottom below.
See how turbulent the water is as it’s about to plunge over the Falls? The water is such a stunning blue color!
There is so much mist in the air that as you get closer to the edge of the Falls it feels as if it’s raining. We were wet from head to toe within minutes as we walked by the Falls, but on a super hot summer day it feels great!
You can see here that you can stand right at the edge of the boat to get a great view of the falls and an up-close encounter with it’s power and beauty! The ‘Maid of the Mist’ cruises near the bottom of the falls and swings by it’s length to give those on board a magical experience.
In 1918 the barge “Niagara Scow’ broke loose from it’s tow and would have been swept over the Falls, however two workers on board ran the barge aground to save their lives! It remains there to this day.
Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? Want to go visit it after seeing these pictures? 🙂
Your family will love it!

Niagara Falls is one of my Favourite places! We vacationed there frequently when I was a kid, and my parents lived there for several years after I grew up. 🙂

It’s so beautiful isn’t it Shannon? Lucky you to have been there so often, I imagine you had so much fun vacationing there as a kiddo!
I went there a few years ago and was stunned to find the falls lived up to the hype. I’d love to take my family next time I go.
Your family would love it Starr! It is so incredibly powerful and loud…its definitely a must see tourist attraction in North America!
Thanks for sharing your pictures. I’ve never been to the falls. I’ve only seen it featured in cartoons, as some loony character is going down them in a barrel :). Seriously, though, they look beautiful. I hope to go some day.
It is truly amazing to see Amy! Just to see the force and magnitude of it takes your breath away! There have been some real people go over it in barrels, not just cartoon characters! Also one of the Wallenda’s just walked across the whole Falls on a tightrope this summer! Can you imagine??
Love your blooooooog¡
