My Space: Back Door Entryway

Hello everyone!  Today I am continuing my house tour with the Back Door Entryway.  This is a small space (it’s right off our back door leading from the garage) so this will be a quick tour!

This is an antique school desk with a flip up lid that we refinished and painted the legs black.  It’s great for storing pens, pads of paper and setting things on when we come into our home.  It’s a perfect size for this small wall too!

This mirror  is from Goodwill.  It was a very unattractive gold color when I bought it, but I really liked the shape of it, so I spray painted it gloss white.  What problem doesn’t white spray paint solve, right ????  🙂

Some pink roses from my backyard in small glass vases.  The round glass jar in the middle actually came with the desk and fits in the hole on top!  I added some white flowers from the hedges in my yard.

Underneath the desk is a basket lined in white canvas which we use to store our paper recycling.  I added a pewter number 4 (its a house number that I bought at Home Depot) which I tied onto the basket with brown twine.  The 4 stands for the 4 in my blog name, Setting for Four, and represents our 4 family members!

So that’s the end of the tour of my Back Door Entryway – hope you liked it!  To see more of my home please visit my Home Tours page.

That mirror was a GREAT find! Nope. There’s not much a can of spray paint can’t fix… well, unless you drill a hole through the frame of your mirror. Then you need some caulk. ha!

Everything about the space is so inviting and cozy but I have to profess my love for your school desk. It is the perfect touch for this space! I have an old school desk as a bedside table in our Guest Room and my hubby has never appreciated it but I think it’s perfect for the space. One day I’d like to have a full-sized “teacher desk” somewhere in our house, too.

I love this – I have a small spot, like this, that I’ve had the hardest time decorating – everything is too big! >Have a great week –
