Love French Decor? Make this Easy DIY Sharpie French Label Towel with a Vintage French Advertisement Label Pattern.  Beautiful way to decorate your French Farmhouse kitchen! Great gift idea too!

I never have enough tea towels! I love displaying beautiful tea towels in my kitchen to add a little pop of pattern and style! This black and white monochromatic look will fit into any kitchen style or color palette. I love building my collection of tea towels. I usually hang one on my stove handle and have one laying on the counter beside the sink for quick drying wet hands!

These vintage French label tea towels are so easy to make – make a few up for yourself and some for friends and family! They make the perfect Mother’s Day gift, teacher gift and hostess gift.

DIY SHARPIE French Label Towel

Supplies:

– Flour sack dish towel

– This black marker that is permanent.

– Photocopy of French Chocolate label – I used this ‘Cacao Payraud’ label .

Tutorial:

Wash and dry the towel according to package instructions. Iron if needed.

Place photocopy paper of the French graphic under the towel on a flat surface.

Trace the words onto the towel using the marker.

You can see the lines right through the towel when you press down on it.

The towel is thin enough to see the lettering from the photocopy.

You’re done!

Thanks for sharing the source for your grain sack towels. I’ve been looking for these but the only ones I’ve found have a stripe on them already.

Your kitchen looks lovely – have you shared other photos of it in old posts?

Thanks for your sweet comments Judy! Just copying some info from the post here for you:
Because this project uses permanent marker – it won’t disappear in the wash! I have washed mine and the printing didn’t wash out or ‘bleed’ at all.

I wash mine in cold water and hang to dry (since they dry very quickly, there is no need to put in the dryer!).
I have put them on the dryer on low heat to dry, the towels are cotton so some shrinkage will occur, but I prewash and predry them before I put the sharpie graphic on them.
Hope this helps! Thanks for visiting my blog!!

I have a question…. You said you “trace” the image into the towel… How? What steps do you specifically do? Lay some graphite paper between your fabric and the image, trace it out then go back over it with the sharpie?

Carrie if you feel confident in your drawing skills you could draw it right on to the towel otherwise you could try tracing it.

I know this comment is long after your post, but what type of marker do you use? Is it a permanent Sharpie marker or some other brand? I love The Graphics Fairy and use her graphics alot.. usually print them onto iron-on fabric and then sew it onto my project, but I love the idea of just tracing it, but I’m sure the right kind of marker is very important!
