One of the things that I really loved about our house when we first looked at it on our house hunting trip was the bright, cozy living room with it’s four large windows that overlook all the trees in our backyard, 10 feet ceilings and fireplace! This is a room we use every single day, where we all congregate after supper for reading, watching TV and generally hanging out. Our living room has basically remained untouched in the decor department since we moved here almost two years ago…. I rotate a few accessories around as the seasons change but most of the decor and pillows have remained the same. So I’m thrilled to be partnering with Ikea for a quick and easy Makeover to refresh my living room and create a relaxing, inviting, and stylish space for my family and friends to enjoy! This makeover really was incredibly quick and easy! Focusing on textiles I added new pillows, curtains, a new throw and used Ikea fabric in some fun ways to give my space a new, updated look instantly.
LIVING ROOM MOOD BOARD
Adding new textiles has turned my living room from ‘meh’ to va-va-voom! The thing I love about textiles is that they really pack a punch: they add the color, texture, softness and layers that are so important to achieve the ‘finished’ look of an interesting and comfortable room! The bonus? They let you play with different looks that aren’t permanent. I’m super excited to show you my living room makeover completed! In the meantime if you are interested in any of the decor items featured in my Mood Board here are the direct links to the sources:
Living Room Source List:

Don’t you just love immediate results? Me too! This quick and easy living room makeover has been such a blast to plan and create! It’s allowed me to add my personality, love for comfort and family-friendly style into a space that’s a hub of our home. I can’t wait to show you my completed room – stay tuned!

Doggone it why can’t Grand Junction, CO have an IKEA? Have never gotten to shop in an IKEA except for online, Just not the same. Didn’t get either store til after we moved away from San Diego.
Love all colors and styles you used in your home, perfect for beachy. The gray is gorgeous on the walls. We recently painted our l/r in a gray very similar to yours and I’m loving it so much, We have a single wide 16×80 mfg. home which has walls in common with our l/r, kitchen and mud room so have to coordinate the gray in all rooms. I bought some great curtains at T.J.Maxx is what started me on the gray, curtains are a shade or two darker than walls with white damask design all over them, grommets on top. I made all new art in shabby chic/beach/cottage idea from things I had in house and stored.
I’ve had such a good time redoing our l/r. We’ve lived here almost 8 yrs. and this is first time we’ve painted due to my not being able to decide. Finding those curtains at T.J. must have been meant to be mine.
I’d love to shop at Home Goods/IKEA but since neither of them are close by I’ve been very much influenced and inspired by blogs like yours. I’m so grateful for blogs as I’ve found so many ideas I
could implement on my own. Actually it’s been so much fun making my own art, putting room
together with what I already had. Have used vintage tablecloths with colors to go with art, walls, etc. to cover a good club chair and a sofa I bought at Habitat. Tablecloths have been sitting out in shed waiting to be used, finally.
Thanks to you and other talented young women I’ve been able to do what I’ve wanted since we moved in here. Blog land is wonderful. Happy summer days to you to enjoy with your family.
P.S. Loved photo of your boys at the beach. Our youngest daughter grew up since she was 17 months old on beaches in San Diego. It’s so good for kids.

I have several of the Kassett boxes that I store my fabric and craft junk, I mean supplies, in, but I’m thinking I need more of these great items on your board- I’m loving the gorgeous blue of the tea light holder and we could certainly use new curtains! If only Ikea weren’t 90 min away! Or maybe that’s a good thing- Love that place! LOL
heather says
I need more Kassett boxes too – they are just the perfect size for…everything!

Gotta love Ikea! My husband and I went there a few months ago to look at bunk beds for our boys. We ended up coming home with a VERY LARGE Couch! Well actually, it didnt fit in the SUV so we had to have it shipped. Ikea is a dangerous place 🙂
heather says
IKEA couches are gorgeous Katie- I love their shape and design! I’m sure you love it! I’d love to replace one of our sofas for an IKEA slipcoverd sofa! If it gets dirty you can just wash it easy peasy!

Gorgeous mood board – so great to be able to visualize an overall look in this way. I agree with you about how textiles can easily transform a look in a non-permanent way!
