Every year the Pantone color gurus choose a color as the trend and inspiration for the year….
…and the color for 2013 is Emerald!
So how can this color be added to a room and what other colors can you pair it with? Great questions, let’s find out!
I thought for fun I would create an Emerald paint color palette to show how this color can really transform a space!
I used the ‘Chip It’ tool to turn this living room picture into an entire paint color pallete.
As shown here, it can look amazing when combined with neutrals:
These emerald drapes look stunning with the dark grey walls, whites (floor, chair upholstery and fireplace tile surround) and blond colored woods (chandelier, mantle and chair legs)!
It really looks like the color of an Emerald stone!
At the Pantone website Emerald is described as:
“Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty
that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.”
Although I don’t think I’ll buy emerald drapes, I’m going to try to add this color in my home somehow, although I am not quite sure how yet!
Do you think you’ll try Emerald in your home this year?

I LOVE that picture Heather-thanks so much for sharing. The color palette is perfect-I was about to paint my offce-to-be’s walls gray but that beige in your palette is the color the walls are currently and I think I may be able to keep the wall color with your inspiration-thanks!!

Me too Keri – love the neutral ‘background’ with pops of color in accessories that you can rotate!

I just finished an emerald and gold dresser in Benjamin Moore Emerald Isle – it’s the perfect shade of green! Just love it. (it’ll be on the blog tomorrow) I’d love to do some emerald curtains!

Unless it arrives on my finger in the form of a ring, I think I’ll pass on Pantone’s choice this year!

I love green…all shades of green! I already have green in my home, but not Emerald. I’ll probably use it in some of my projects, but I’m afraid it will clash with some of the greens I already have! It’s beautiful though!
Heather SettingforFour says
Hmm….sometimes different tones of the same color will clash Danni, you’ll have to try and see!
Erin {Home Everyday} says
I’m loving the emerald. i’m thinking of doing a very small accent wall in this tone, but am nervous!
Heather SettingforFour says
An accent wall would look fabulous Erin! Maybe you could take a picture of your room and go to Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore’s website and use the tool where you can upload your picture and trial a paint color! Good luck!
