DIY Autumn Pillow

Have you been to a fabric store recently?  I love walking through the isles and seeing all those bolts of home decor fabrics lined up row upon row begging to be touched and transformed into curtains, pillows or whatever you can dream of!

I found a beautiful autumn patterned fabric last year and bought a yard for a someday-project... do you do that too?

DIY Autumn Pillow from Setting for Four

Last week I pulled it out of my fabric stash and used it to recover two faded outdoor pillows that needed some refreshing!

With the autumn weather arriving in parts of the north and the daylight growing shorter with the approach of fall, adding black to our interior spaces is a great way to create a dramatic coccooning effect or a bold fresh update.

Black interiors fit many design styles...tradtional, contemporary, classic, vintage....

Lets take a look at how the color black can wow in these 5 spaces:

The temperaure is brisk here, leaves aresettling to the ground and fall blooming flowers are saying farewell before winter.

A bouquet of wild fall asters:

So grab a cup of joe, sit down and take a look at what I will be wearing this fall...(or wish I was wearing!)

In the Bloglight

This week I am super excited to be featured at Hometalk's Blogtalk community of super talented bloggers!

On September 6th I will be featured 'In the Bloglight!" and what makes this so fun for me is that I get to share some details about myself and my blog, introduce myself to some of the Blogtalk members who don't know me as well as share my story with those that do!

So welcome to Setting for Four everyone!!

Here's a bit about me, my background and my blog:

I started blogging December 31st 2010....December 31st...Yes, I'm not kidding, the last day of the year!  Why that day?  I was feeling that I absolutley had to start something new in my life at the close of that year.  Frankly, 2010 was a year of not-so-great surprises for me, disorder and frustration.  I had moved to a new city where I had no family and didn't know a soul, with my military hubby and two sons.  This particular posting followed several years of my husband's extended deployments overseas, several family separations and to be honest several months of loneliness.

Why I'm Truncating my Blog Posts and Feeds.

You may have heard a lot of buzz lately in the blogosphere about blog post stealing and scraping.

Some of you may be asking 'What is scraping?'

Blog scraping is the process whereby individuals, known as scrapers,  use automated software to scan through a large number of blogs searching for and copying blog content.  The scraped content is then used on spam blogs or 'splogs'.  The scraper's site then benefits from the key words copied and stolen, benefiting their search engine ranking!

Also, and this is scary, the scraped content can appear on any splog or RSS fed spam site including those that promote pornography or other offensive content.  This of course damages the original author's reputation!  So not only do blog post scrapers benefit from our hard work for their financial gain, they can harm an unsuspecting blogger's character and offend their cherished readers.
