What I Love: Mikasa French Countryside Flatware

Hello everyone!  Today I am sharing another post in my series "What I Love"....my Mikasa French Coutryside Flatware.

Shopping for cutlery can be difficult with all the choices in patterns, brands and pricepoints on the market.  It can be difficult to choose because we all want value, great looks and durability for our money!  I used to have an extremely inexpensive set from Ikea, but it really didn't stay nice looking for long and became very scratched to the point that I decided a year ago to purchase new flatware.

After visiting tons of retail and online stores for flatware and looking at several different patterns I purchased the French Countryside pattern made by Mikasa.

So bloggers, here is my own personal review and why I love it:

This 18/8 stainless steel flatware pattern is a set my family of four uses everyday.  I purchased 8 sets of 6 piece place settings from Tuesday Morning at a huge discount a year ago.   Each place setting contains a dinner fork, dinner knife, soup spoon, salad fork, teaspoon and steak knife.

If you've never heard of the American company Mikasa, it's a trusted and recognized leader in dinnerware.  For over half a century, quality and workmanship have been synonymous with this worldwide brand.

I love this classic pattern!  It really looks beautiful with my white plates and my Dwell tablecloth and napkins, as well as white linens.

Look at the lovely bead pattern and the tapered handles!

They are very solid  to handle (yet not too heavy); this is a refleciton of how well made they are.

They also are really easy to care for: they wash up beautifully in the dishwasher and since they are made from 18/10 stainless steel, they never need polishing!

I highly recommend this pattern from Mikasa....it is beautiful, durable, kid-proof and diswasher safe!

Do you own any pieces from Mikasa?

Thank you SO much for coming by for a visit!  I love to hear all of your comments!

  1. THat is similar to mine. I have...ummm... a pattern by Oneida, I think. I can't remember, but I LOVE it. It is so comfortable and has a great weight to it.

  2. I love Mikasa! I do not have their flatware but I do have a full set of the Park Lane crystal. I also have several serving peices and Christmas items. Don't you just love Tuesday Morning! I too got my flatware there (16 place settings) at a quarter of the retail cost. Thanks for sharing your wonderful pattern.

  7. Your Mikasa flatware is a pretty pattern. I selected a Mikasa Garden Harvest as my everyday pattern 18 years ago and have enjoyed it very much.

  9. Thank you for the review--you have made me want to visit it somewhere in person to possibly purchase! My beloved Act II cutlery by Oneida had to be put away because the family kept losing spoons and forks. We couldn't afford to keep replacing it! Everything I've tried after that has either not worn well like you mentioned your previous set, wasn't comfortable in the hand or had outrageously sized spoons. (What's up with that?!) But Mikasa has been in our home a long time, first with a set of 'Japonica' dishes and then 'Ribbon Holly' Christmas china. Love, love, love their quality. Swoon!

  10. You know, they closed down all of the Mikasa stores here in my area-- what's up with that!? I used to collect things from them- loved their glass pieces and even have some still in the box from when they had going out of buiz sales! That pattern is pretty sassy!! Great pick girl!

  11. I love your silverware! I would totally pick up a set if I went into a Mikasa store and saw it there. The silverware matches the table setting beautifully and it brings it all together.
